These Terms govern your use of RoofExchange, a marketplace that connects Metro Detroit homeowners with verified roofing contractors. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Who can use RoofExchange
You must be 18 or older and legally able to enter contracts. Contractors must maintain valid Michigan licensure and general liability insurance for the work they offer.
2. The marketplace
RoofExchange is a venue. We are not a party to any agreement between a homeowner and a contractor. We do not perform roofing work, guarantee outcomes, or verify every claim made by users. We do verify contractor license and insurance documentation before granting a verified badge.
3. Homeowner responsibilities
- Provide accurate project details, photos, and address.
- Respond to accepted offers in a reasonable timeframe.
- Independently verify contractor references and workmanship before signing a contract.
4. Contractor responsibilities
- Maintain a valid Michigan builders license and liability insurance at all times.
- Submit honest offers based on the information provided in each project.
- Honor any offer you accept within its stated terms.
- Do not misuse homeowner contact information; do not contact homeowners outside a project you have been awarded.
5. Fees
RoofExchange is free for homeowners. Contractor fees, if any, are disclosed at the time of sign-up or offer acceptance.
6. Prohibited conduct
- Misrepresenting your identity, license, insurance, or work history.
- Scraping, reverse-engineering, or circumventing security controls.
- Using the platform to solicit business outside of open projects.
- Uploading unlawful, defamatory, or infringing content.
7. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, misuse the platform, or fail license verification. You can close your account at any time by contacting support.
8. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, RoofExchange disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We are not responsible for the quality of any roofing work performed by contractors listed on the platform.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, RoofExchange's aggregate liability arising from your use of the service is limited to the greater of (a) $100 or (b) the fees you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Wayne County, Michigan.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
